Lessons in your own time zone
How the time difference actually works
Honest answer first: Australia is eight to eleven hours ahead of the UK, so not every UK slot suits an Australian family. The slots that work are these:
- Weekday evenings, about 6 to 9 PM in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane line up with UK morning teaching hours (about 8 to 11 AM UK time). This is the most popular Australian slot.
- Perth afternoons, about 3:30 to 7 PM AWST line up with UK morning hours, which suits after-school lessons.
- Mornings, about 9 AM to 12 PM AEST line up with US evening hours, which suits weekend lessons, homeschooling families and adults with flexible mornings.
Choose your zone in the schedule widget below and every sample slot converts to your local time, including daylight-saving differences between states.
Lesson times by state
Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Hobart
AEST / AEDT. Evenings 6 to 9 PM and weekend mornings are the usual choices.
Brisbane and Queensland
AEST year-round. Evening overlap with UK morning hours stays fixed; the summer difference to Sydney is one hour.
Adelaide and Darwin
ACST / ACDT. Evenings from about 5:30 PM overlap with UK morning hours.
Perth and Western Australia
AWST. After-school slots from about 3:30 PM and evenings to about 7 PM overlap with UK morning hours.
Sample overlaps only. Availability is confirmed with your teacher. Queensland, Western Australia and the Northern Territory do not observe daylight saving, so overlaps shift by an hour for part of the year.
Morning in Perth, evening in Sydney: both covered.
Our teaching hours reach Australia's mornings and evenings, so children learn after school and adults before work, with one private teacher.
Around the Australian school year
Australian schools run four terms from late January to December with two-week breaks between them and a longer summer break over Christmas and January. Most families keep lessons through the short breaks and use the long summer break for a concentrated block of Qaida or memorisation. Because lessons are private, the weekly rhythm can change term by term without losing the teacher.

Online Quran classes in Australia: getting the time difference right first
Most pages about online Quran classes in Australia avoid the one question that decides whether lessons will work: what time is the teacher awake? Australia is eight to eleven hours ahead of the UK and fourteen to eighteen ahead of the US east coast. Our teachers work UK and US hours. So not every slot on this website suits an Australian family, and we would rather explain the overlaps than pretend they do not exist.
The slots that actually work
Weekday evenings on the east coast. Six to nine in the evening in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra and Hobart falls between about eight and eleven in the morning in the UK, which is a normal teaching morning for our UK-hours teachers. This is the most popular slot for Australian families: after dinner, before bed, one child then the next.
Perth and Western Australia afternoons. Perth is two hours behind Sydney, so the same UK morning is half past three to seven in the afternoon in Perth. That is an after-school slot, which suits Western Australian families particularly well.
Adelaide and Darwin. Central time sits between the two: evenings from about half past five overlap with UK morning hours.
Mornings anywhere in Australia. Nine to midday on the east coast is evening on the US east coast, so our US-hours teachers can take morning lessons. That suits weekend lessons, homeschooling families, adults with flexible mornings and retirees.
Daylight saving complicates the picture: New South Wales, Victoria, the ACT, Tasmania and South Australia change their clocks, while Queensland, Western Australia and the Northern Territory do not, and the UK changes on different dates again. The practical effect is that overlaps shift by an hour for part of the year. Your lesson stays at the same local time unless you ask to move it, and the schedule widget on this page converts everything to your state's time automatically.
Around the Australian school year
Australian schools run four terms from late January to mid-December, with two-week breaks between terms and the long summer break over Christmas and January. Most families keep lessons running through the short breaks, when there is no homework and evenings are free, and treat the summer break as a choice: pause for a few weeks, or use January for a concentrated block of Qaida or memorisation. Because lessons are private, the rhythm can change term by term without losing the teacher. Around NAPLAN, HSC, VCE and other exam periods, older students often drop to fewer lessons and pick back up afterwards.
What Australian families most often ask for
Evening Qaida lessons for children, three to five times a week after dinner, are the most common request. Female teachers for daughters and for mothers learning alongside them are requested by many families; choose one when you book and we confirm who is free in your evening slots before the trial. Tajweed for adults in evening or early-morning slots comes from readers who want to recite correctly. Hifz with a revision system needs a daily lesson, and the evening overlap makes that possible on the east coast. We also hear from new Muslims looking for a gentle first course, and from families wanting a teacher who speaks Arabic, Urdu, Bengali or Turkish at home; state it when you book.
Courses available to learners in Australia
Every course is available in the overlapping hours: Noorani Qaida, Quran reading, Tajweed, memorisation and Hifz, Arabic for Quran and Islamic studies for children. All lessons are private and one-to-one.
Pricing and payment in Australia
Plans are monthly and billed in US dollars by card. Australian-dollar billing is not yet offered, so your card provider converts at its own rate; we say so because it affects what you pay. The trial lesson is free and no payment details are requested until you choose a plan. The pricing page lets you build a plan and shows what is included.
No office in Australia
Virtual Quran Center is fully online and has no premises in Australia. Teacher profiles state where each teacher works from as they are published. What matters to an Australian family is whether a good teacher is available at seven in the evening Sydney time on a weekday, and that is the question we answer honestly, slot by slot, when you book.
Cities we serve
Our Australian learners are most often in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Canberra, the Gold Coast and Newcastle, but online lessons reach every state and territory equally, including regional towns where no local class exists. We have not built separate city pages because the lessons are the same and only the time zone differs.
How to start
Book the free trial, choose your state's time zone, and tell us the evening or morning slots that suit you. A coordinator confirms which teachers are free in those hours before proposing one. Nothing is paid until you have met the teacher.
Questions people ask before booking
Australian families and adults take private online Quran classes with Virtual Quran Center in the hours that overlap with our UK and US teaching hours: weekday evenings on the east coast, afternoons in Perth, and mornings anywhere. Every learner starts with a free trial lesson. We would rather explain the overlaps than pretend every slot suits an Australian family; the state-by-state cards on this page show what works. Start Quran Classes in Australia
Yes. Children learn with Virtual Quran Center in short private lessons after dinner on the east coast or after school in Perth, with a note to parents after each lesson. Australian schools run four terms with two-week breaks, and most families keep lessons through the short breaks when there is no homework. A parent stays nearby for the first weeks, then reads the note after each lesson. Explore Quran Classes for Kids
Yes. Australian adults learn privately with Virtual Quran Center in evening slots or flexible mornings, from the alphabet to Tajweed and Hifz. Weekday evenings on the east coast line up with UK morning teaching hours, and Australian mornings with US evenings, so both are workable. Nobody else is in the lesson, and an adult may keep the camera off. Start Quran Classes for Adults
Yes. Request a female teacher for any course at Virtual Quran Center; we confirm who is free in your evening slots before the trial. Female teachers cover every course, and we never substitute a male teacher without asking first. Camera preferences for girls and women are agreed before the first lesson, and female teachers cover every course. Find a Female Quran Teacher
Yes. Virtual Quran Center matches each Australian learner with a dedicated tutor who takes every lesson privately in your state's time. The tutor writes a note after every lesson, so a parent in Sydney or Perth can follow progress without sitting in. If the match is not right, we arrange a second free trial with someone else. Find Your Quran Tutor
Australian families are billed monthly in US dollars, based on lessons per week and lesson length; Australian-dollar billing is available at the prices shown when you pick AUD on the pricing page. The Hifz Intensive plan is $79 (£69) a month for five 45-minute classes a week; the trial is free. Your card provider converts at its own rate, which we say plainly because it affects the total; there is no registration fee and no contract. View Pricing
Yes, in the overlapping hours: about 6 to 9 PM AEST lines up with UK mornings, Perth afternoons line up with UK mornings, and Australian mornings line up with US evenings. Virtual Quran Center converts every time to your state automatically. Queensland, Western Australia and the Northern Territory do not change clocks, so their overlap with UK hours shifts by an hour for part of the year. See Times by State
In Perth and Western Australia, yes, from about half past three, through the UK morning overlap. On the east coast the usual children's slot is early evening. Virtual Quran Center confirms exact availability when you book. Perth is two hours behind Sydney, so the same UK morning that is evening in Sydney is mid-afternoon in Perth. See Options for Children
Yes. Weekday evenings from about six to nine on the east coast are the most popular Australian slots at Virtual Quran Center, covered by UK-hours teachers. One child then the next after dinner is the usual pattern, and the slot stays fixed week to week. Daylight saving in the southern states shifts the overlap by an hour for part of the year, but your lesson stays at the same local time unless you ask to move it. Book an Evening Lesson
Yes. Weekend mornings on the east coast line up with US evening hours and weekend evenings with UK mornings. Virtual Quran Center confirms availability before the trial. Weekend mornings also suit homeschooling families and adults with flexible mornings during the week. A weekend slot stays fixed week to week like any other and can be moved with 24 hours' notice. Ask About Weekend Slots
Yes. The Tajweed course at Virtual Quran Center is taught privately to Australian learners in evening or early-morning slots. An evening slot of about 6 to 9 PM AEST sits inside UK morning teaching hours, which suits the two-lessons-a-week rhythm Tajweed needs. The course needs only two evening lessons a week and a short daily passage, so it fits around work. Join Online Tajweed Classes
Yes. The evening overlap on the east coast makes a daily Hifz lesson possible. Virtual Quran Center runs the programme with a revision system around school. A daily evening lesson after dinner, with memorising done after school, is the usual pattern for east-coast Hifz learners. The memorisation record adapts to the four-term school year, so a lighter term loses nothing. Join Online Hifz Classes
Yes. Beginners of any age start with the letters and the Noorani Qaida at Virtual Quran Center, privately, in their own zone. A beginner's first lessons cover the letters and their correct sounds, and the same teacher continues through the Qaida to reading. A private lesson means an adult beginner never has to read in front of anyone but the teacher. Start as a Beginner
Yes. Every course is taught by both male and female teachers, so the choice is yours at booking. We confirm who is free in your evening or morning overlap before proposing a teacher, so the preference is honoured rather than promised. From Qaida to Hifz, female teachers cover it all, with camera preferences agreed ahead of the first lesson. Choose Your Teacher
Yes. One free trial lesson per learner with no payment details, in your own time zone. Choose your state's zone on the form and a coordinator confirms trial times in the overlapping hours with the proposed teacher. A written recommendation follows with a course, starting level, lesson length and weekly rhythm, and a second trial with a different teacher is free if the first is not the right fit.
