Online Quran classes in the USA: built around American schedules
American families searching for online Quran classes in the USA are usually dealing with distance. The nearest masjid with a weekend school may be forty minutes away; the weekend class may have a waiting list, or twenty children per teacher; and the weekday evening, when a child could actually make progress, has nothing at all. Private online lessons put a fixed slot into that evening, in your own time zone, with a teacher who takes every lesson and writes a note afterwards.
Four time zones, all covered
Our teachers work US hours as well as UK hours, so the four mainland zones are covered through the after-school and evening period.
Eastern (New York, New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland, Washington DC, Atlanta, Florida, Detroit, the Carolinas). After-school slots from about half past three line up with both UK evening hours and US-hours teachers; evenings to about nine are well covered.
Central (Chicago, Houston, Dallas, Minneapolis, St Louis). After-school and evening slots covered; Texas is one of our busiest regions in this zone.
Mountain (Denver, Phoenix, Salt Lake City). Evening slots covered by US-hours teachers. Arizona does not observe daylight saving, so overlaps shift by an hour for part of the year; your lesson time stays fixed.
Pacific (Los Angeles, the Bay Area, Seattle, San Diego). Early-evening slots covered; before-school morning slots line up with UK afternoon hours, which suits some families.
Alaska and Hawaii are served in the overlapping morning and early-afternoon hours. Every time on this website converts to your zone automatically, and the March and November clock changes are handled for you.
Around the American school year
Most families run two to four lessons a week after school from late August or September to May or June. Summer is a choice: some families keep the rhythm, many use the long break for a concentrated block of Qaida or memorisation, and some pause for travel. Around standardised testing, finals, Ramadan and the winter break, lessons move on twenty-four hours' notice or pause for a few weeks; the teacher stays the same. Sunday school at the masjid and private online lessons in the week is a common and sensible combination.
What American families most often ask for
Noorani Qaida for young children, three to five short lessons a week, is the usual starting point. Female teachers for daughters, and often for young sons, are requested by a large share of families; choose one when you book and we confirm availability at your times before the trial. Tajweed for adults comes from readers who want to recite correctly, often after years of reading without the rules. Hifz alongside school needs a daily lesson and is one of our fastest-growing requests. Many families want a teacher who speaks Urdu, Arabic, Bengali, Somali or Spanish at home; say so when you book. New Muslims across the country ask for a gentle first course, and our page for new Muslims is written for them.
Courses for learners in the USA
All courses are available in US hours: Noorani Qaida, Quran reading, Tajweed, memorisation and Hifz, Arabic for Quran, Islamic studies for children, and the audience courses for adults and women. Every lesson is private and one-to-one.
Pricing in dollars
US families are billed monthly in US dollars by card. The trial lesson is free and no payment details are requested for it. The pricing page lets you build a plan from lessons per week, lesson length and number of learners, and shows what is included. There is no contract; plans are monthly and can be paused or stopped with notice under the refund policy.
Safeguarding and parent visibility
Children learn with an adult over a video call, and parents are right to ask how that is handled. Our practices are on the safeguarding page: how lessons run, how parents see progress and contact the teacher, the recording policy (nothing recorded without the parent's consent), and how to raise a concern. Only procedures that exist are described; anything still being finalised is marked as such.
No US office
Virtual Quran Center is fully online with no premises in the United States. We say so because some websites imply a local presence they do not have. What matters to a family in Houston or Northern Virginia is whether a good teacher is free at five Central on a Tuesday, and that is what we answer when you book.
Cities and states
Our American learners are most often in New York, New Jersey, Houston, Dallas, Chicago, Los Angeles, Northern Virginia, Maryland, Washington DC, Detroit, Atlanta and Florida, but lessons reach every state equally, including rural areas with no masjid nearby. We have not built separate city pages because the lessons are the same and only the time zone differs.
How to start
Book the free trial, choose your time zone, and tell us who is learning and when. A coordinator proposes a teacher, you meet them, and you decide. Or ask a question first on WhatsApp.
