Child Safeguarding and Online Safety
Children use our service, so trust and safety come before everything else. This page states what we do. It does not claim checks we do not carry out.
Parents can sit in. Lessons can be reviewed. Nothing is hidden.
A child's lesson is a private video call with a vetted teacher, a parent welcome at any time, and lesson notes sent home afterwards.
Teacher screening
- Identity verification of every teacher before they are listed.
- Verification of Quran teaching qualifications and references.
- A recorded teaching demonstration reviewed by the academy.
- Formal criminal-record checks (such as a UK DBS check or a US background screening) are stated here only where they are actually carried out for the teacher concerned, and the type of check is named. Where a teacher is outside the UK or US, the equivalent local check, if any, is named.
How lessons are conducted
- Every lesson is one-to-one over a video platform issued by the academy, not a teacher's personal account.
- Parents may join, observe or sit beside a child at any time without notice.
- Teachers keep the camera on and remain in a neutral, professional setting.
- Lessons stay on the Quran and Islamic studies curriculum.
Recording
Lessons may be recorded for quality and safeguarding purposes only with the parent's or adult learner's consent. Parents can request access to any recording of their child's lesson.
Communication between teachers and families
- All scheduling, notes and messages go through the academy's platform or academy channels.
- Teachers do not exchange personal phone numbers, social media or email with students or parents.
- Teachers do not communicate privately with any child.
Personal information
We collect only the information needed to run lessons and report progress. Children's information is visible only to their parent account, their teacher and academy coordinators. See our privacy policy.
Raising a concern
If anything about a lesson or a teacher concerns you, contact the academy immediately by email at hello@virtualqurancenter.com or on WhatsApp. Concerns are acknowledged within one working day, investigated by the academy's designated safeguarding contact, and the teacher is suspended from lessons with the family while an investigation takes place. Serious concerns are reported to the appropriate authorities.
Complaints
Complaints about any aspect of the service follow the same route and receive a written response.
Review
This policy is reviewed at least annually and whenever a concern reveals a gap.
