The Virtual Quran Center Learning Framework
Eight levels from initial assessment to advanced recitation. Every learner is placed on this framework after a teacher assessment, and every course maps onto it, so progress is visible and comparable over time.
- Level 0
Initial Assessment
A teacher listens to the learner and agrees a starting point.
- Level 1
Arabic Alphabet
Recognise and sound every Arabic letter in its isolated form.
- Level 2
Letter Joining
Read letters in their beginning, middle and end forms and join them into words.
- Level 3
Harakat & Basic Reading
Read words and short phrases using vowel marks, sukoon, shaddah and tanween.
- Level 4
Fluent Quran Reading
Read any page of the Quran at a steady pace with the teacher correcting as needed.
- Level 5
Basic Tajweed
Apply the most common Tajweed rules while reading.
- Level 6
Applied Tajweed
Recite with consistent Tajweed across longer passages.
- Level 7
Advanced Recitation
Beautify recitation and prepare for memorisation or further study.
This is the Virtual Quran Center learning framework, used to place learners and track progress. It is not a universal standard; other academies use different level systems.

Know exactly where you are and what comes next.
Every learner is placed on one of seven levels in the trial and moves up with clear milestones, so progress is visible to you and your teacher.
How placement works
In the free trial the teacher listens to the learner. A learner who cannot recognise letters starts at Level 1. One who reads vowelled words slowly is typically Level 3. One who reads fluently but has never studied rules is Level 5. The teacher records the level and the next milestone in the learning plan.
How progress is measured
Each level has milestones (listed on course pages). The teacher marks a milestone when the learner demonstrates it in a lesson, not when a number of weeks has passed. Levels and milestones appear in the dashboard and the monthly summary.
Moving between courses
Courses overlap levels deliberately. A child finishing Noorani Qaida (Levels 1–3) moves to Quran Reading (Levels 3–4) and then Tajweed (Levels 5–7). A learner who wants to memorise starts memorisation from Level 4 and may enter full Hifz from Level 5.
A note on standards
This framework is our own tool for placing and tracking learners. It is not a universal Islamic standard and it is not an external accreditation. Other academies and madrasahs use different systems.
