Online Quran Classes: Private Lessons for Kids and Adults, in Your Time Zone
Online Quran classes at Virtual Quran Center are live, private video lessons between one learner and one qualified teacher. Children and adults learn Noorani Qaida, Quran reading, Tajweed, memorisation and Quranic Arabic at fixed weekly times in their own time zone, starting with a free trial lesson and no payment details.
What an online Quran class includes
Every class is a live video call. The teacher shares the Qaida or Quran page on screen, the learner reads or recites, and the teacher corrects each word as it is said. Nothing is pre-recorded and nothing is taught to a group.
- One learner, one teacher, the same teacher every week.
- 30, 45 or 60 minutes, depending on age and course.
- Fixed weekly slots that you choose, shown in your own time zone, with rescheduling on 24 hours’ notice.
- A learning plan agreed in the trial: course, starting level, weekly rhythm and first milestone.
- Lesson notes after each lesson and a monthly summary, visible to parents and adult learners.
Classes run on an ordinary video-call app on a phone, tablet or computer. There is nothing to buy: the teacher’s screen carries the text.

Quran classes for kids →Adults at any level
From the alphabet to advanced recitation, paced for adults, with early-morning, late-evening and weekend slots for working people.
Quran classes for adults →Women and girls
Request a female teacher for any course. Camera preferences are agreed before the first lesson.
Classes for women →Complete beginners
No Arabic assumed. A clear route: letters, joining, vowel marks, short surahs, then fluency and Tajweed.
Quran for beginners →New Muslims
Al-Fatihah and the essentials of prayer first, then reading, with a patient teacher and no assumptions.
Classes for new Muslims →Whole families
Each learner keeps their own teacher and plan, often back to back, on one account and one invoice.
Family plan →The room is small: you and your teacher.
No group, no waiting for your turn, no camera off in the corner. Every minute of the lesson is your recitation being heard and corrected.

Check availability for my timesOnline classes compared with mosque and group classes
Online private lessons are not automatically better than a good local class. They solve specific problems: distance, timing, attention and pace.
| Question | Mosque or group class | Private online class |
|---|---|---|
| How much does the learner read aloud? | A few minutes per session, shared with the group | The whole lesson |
| Who sets the pace? | The group’s average | The individual learner |
| Are mistakes corrected as they happen? | When the teacher hears them | Every word, every time |
| Travel | Drop-off and collection, often in the evening | None |
| Timing | Fixed by the class | Fixed by you, in your time zone |
| Community | Strong: friends, congregation, events | Weaker; families often combine both |
Many of our families keep a weekend mosque class for community and use online lessons for the reading progress that needs individual attention.
Why families and adults choose Virtual Quran Center
We do not claim to be the best or the biggest. These are the concrete reasons people give us when they stay:
- The teacher never changes unless you ask, so nobody re-explains where the learner is.
- The trial is genuinely free and requires no payment details, so you decide after meeting the teacher, not before.
- Male or female teacher is your choice, and we tell you honestly if nobody suitable is free at your time.
- Progress is written down after every lesson, so parents and adult learners can see it rather than take it on trust.
- Policies are published: rescheduling, recording, safeguarding, refunds. Read them before you book.

What are online Quran classes, exactly?
Online Quran classes are live lessons taught over a video call, where a teacher and a learner work through the Qaida or the Quran together in real time. The learner reads aloud, the teacher listens and corrects, and the lesson ends with a note on what to practise. That is the whole idea. There is no app that "teaches you the Quran", no recorded video course, and no chatbot. The technology only carries the voice and the page; the teaching is still a person listening to another person read.
At Virtual Quran Center every class is private. That distinction matters more than most families realise when they first search for Quran classes online. Many websites use the phrase loosely for group sessions of six, eight or ten students, where each child reads for a few minutes and waits for the rest of the hour. A private lesson is a different experience. A thirty-minute lesson is thirty minutes of the learner reading, being corrected, asking, and reading again.
Who takes online Quran classes with us?
Three kinds of learner make up most of our enquiries, and they want quite different things from a lesson.
Parents booking for a child. Usually the child is between five and twelve, has either never started or has been through a mosque class that did not stick, and the parent wants two things: consistent progress in reading, and the ability to see that progress without sitting in on every lesson. For them the important details are the short lesson length, the fixed weekly times after school, the same teacher every week, and the lesson notes that arrive afterwards. Our Quran classes for kids page goes into the age tracks in detail.
Adults learning for themselves. Some never learned as children. Some learned in childhood, stopped at fourteen, and now at thirty-five find they cannot read a page without hesitating. Some read perfectly well and want Tajweed, or want to memorise. What they share is a schedule that does not bend easily and, often, a quiet embarrassment about starting late. A private lesson at 6:30 in the morning or 9:30 at night, with nobody else in the room, removes both problems. See Quran classes for adults.
New Muslims. For someone who has just embraced Islam, "learn the Quran" can feel like an enormous, undefined task. It is not. It starts with Al-Fatihah and the short surahs needed for prayer, learned by ear and then by reading, with a teacher who assumes nothing. Our page for new Muslims lays out that path.
What can you learn in an online Quran class?
The courses fall into a natural sequence, though not everyone starts at the beginning.
- Noorani Qaida teaches the Arabic letters, how they join, the vowel marks and the basic rules that make Quranic words readable. It is the foundation for children and for adult beginners alike.
- Quran reading moves the learner from the Qaida to the Mushaf itself, starting with the short surahs at the back and building accuracy before speed.
- Tajweed is for people who already read and want to recite correctly: the articulation points of the letters, the rules of nūn and mīm sākinah, the lengths of madd, qalqalah, ghunnah, and the heavy and light letters. Our online Tajweed classes teach one rule at a time and apply it in reading.
- Memorisation ranges from Juz Amma to a full Hifz programme, always with a revision system so that what is learned in month one is still there in month twelve. See online Hifz classes.
- Quranic Arabic gives readers the vocabulary and grammar to understand what they recite.
- Islamic studies for children covers beliefs, worship, character and the lives of the Prophets, usually alongside a reading course.
The teacher recommends where to start in the free trial. Most learners are surprised by the recommendation in one direction or the other: adults who assumed they needed the Qaida often read better than they think, and fluent readers who wanted Hifz sometimes need a short Tajweed course first so that what they memorise is memorised correctly.
How does a lesson actually run?
A typical thirty-minute reading lesson for a child looks like this. The teacher opens the call, greets the learner, and shares the page on screen. The first five minutes revise yesterday's lines: the child reads, the teacher corrects any slips. The next fifteen to twenty minutes are new material: a new Qaida exercise or the next few lines of a surah, read slowly, repeated, corrected, repeated again. The last five minutes set a small home task, usually reading the same lines twice before the next lesson, and the teacher writes a short note that the parent sees afterwards.
An adult Tajweed lesson has a different rhythm. The teacher recites a verse demonstrating one rule, the learner recites it back, and the teacher points out where the sound was right and where it drifted. Then the rule is applied across a longer passage. Adults often ask more questions, and a good teacher welcomes them; understanding why a rule exists makes it stick.
Lessons run on an ordinary video-call app on a phone, tablet or laptop. Nothing has to be bought. The teacher's screen carries the text, so a family does not need a particular edition of the Qaida or Quran, though many like to have a physical copy alongside.
How often should lessons be?
Short and frequent beats long and rare, especially for children and for anyone memorising. A child who reads with a teacher for twenty-five minutes four times a week will nearly always outpace a child who has one ninety-minute class on a Saturday, because reading is a skill of repetition and the gap between sessions is where forgetting happens. For adults with fixed working hours, two or three lessons a week is a realistic rhythm that still produces visible progress month to month. The teacher suggests a frequency in the trial; the pricing page shows how lessons per week and lesson length combine.
Are online Quran classes effective compared with a mosque class?
For the specific skill of reading and reciting the Quran accurately, a private online lesson is usually faster, for one plain reason: the amount of time the learner spends reading aloud with someone correcting them. That is the mechanism by which reading improves, and a one-to-one lesson maximises it. Online lessons also remove travel, which for a working parent in winter is often the difference between lessons happening and not happening.
What online lessons do not provide is community. A mosque class gives a child friends who are also learning, a sense of occasion, and adults who know their name. Many of our families keep both: a weekend class at the mosque for belonging, and private online lessons during the week for progress. We think that is a sensible arrangement and we say so in the trial rather than pretending one replaces the other.
Choosing a teacher: male or female, language, experience
When you book, you tell us who is learning, what they want to achieve, the times that suit you, and whether you would like a male or female teacher. A coordinator proposes a teacher whose experience matches the learner. Parents of daughters and adult women frequently ask for a female Quran teacher; parents of young boys often do too. Some families want a teacher who also speaks Urdu, Arabic or another home language so that explanations can be given in it. State it when you book and we match against it.
You meet the proposed teacher in the free trial. If the fit is wrong, for any reason or none, we propose someone else. Once you are happy, that teacher takes every lesson from then on, which is the single most important factor in a child's progress: a teacher who knows exactly which letters the child confuses and which surah they are halfway through.
Times, time zones and rescheduling
Our teachers work across UK and United States hours. In practice that covers after-school and evening slots in the UK, every mainland US time zone, Canada, Ireland and much of Europe, plus evening slots in Australia through the overlap with UK mornings. Every time on this website is shown in your own zone, converted from your device's settings, and you can change the zone manually.
You choose fixed weekly days and times, and they stay yours. If life intervenes, a lesson can be moved with twenty-four hours' notice. Lessons missed without notice count as taken, except in genuine emergencies; we are a small academy and we try to be reasonable about a sick child or a power cut.
What does it cost, and what is free?
The trial lesson is free and we do not ask for payment details to book it. After the trial, plans are monthly and depend on how many lessons a week you want and how long each lesson is. The pricing page lets you build a plan and shows exactly what is included: a dedicated teacher, a personal learning plan, lesson notes, a monthly summary and rescheduling. There is no contract; plans can be paused or stopped with notice.
How to start
Book the free trial. It takes about two minutes: who is learning, their age and level, what they want to achieve, preferred times, and a teacher preference. We propose a teacher, you meet them, and you decide. If you would rather ask a question first, message us on WhatsApp and a coordinator will answer.
Questions people ask before booking
You take Quran classes online by booking a lesson slot with a teacher and joining a live video call at that time each week. At Virtual Quran Center every class is private: one teacher, one learner, the text shared on screen, and every word corrected as it is read. Tell us the learner's age, level and goal, and a coordinator proposes a teacher and times in your own time zone. Book Your Quran Trial Class
You can join online Quran classes through Virtual Quran Center and learn from home with a dedicated teacher. Our courses cover Noorani Qaida, Quran reading, Tajweed, memorisation and Hifz, Quranic Arabic and Islamic studies for children, for learners in the UK, USA, Canada, Australia and beyond. Every course starts with a free trial lesson. Because each class is private, the same page works whether you are looking for a five-year-old's first letters or an adult's Tajweed refinement; the coordinator matches the teacher to the learner in front of them. Each class is a live video call between one learner and one teacher. The teacher shares the Qaida or Quran page on screen, the learner reads or recites, and the teacher corrects in real time. Lessons at Virtual Quran Center run for 30, 45 or 60 minutes at fixed weekly times you choose, and a short note follows every lesson. See How Online Quran Classes Work
The best beginner classes start with the Arabic letters and the Noorani Qaida, move to reading the Quran itself, and correct pronunciation from the first lesson. Virtual Quran Center teaches complete beginners of any age one-to-one, with a teacher who sets the starting point in a free trial and a plan that builds from letters to fluent reading. Yes. All you need is a phone, tablet or computer with a camera and microphone and a quiet spot. Learners with Virtual Quran Center study from home in the UK, USA, Canada, Australia and elsewhere, with lesson times shown in their own time zone. The teacher's shared screen carries the text, so nothing needs to be bought. Book Online Quran Classes
The cost depends on how many lessons a week you take and how long each lesson is. Virtual Quran Center offers monthly plans of two, three or five lessons a week, in 30, 45 or 60-minute lessons, billed in USD, GBP, CAD or AUD, with every monthly fee shown on the pricing page, from $29 (£25) a month. Yes. Every learner at Virtual Quran Center starts with a free trial lesson, with no payment details required. The teacher listens to the learner read or begins with the letters, then recommends a course, level and weekly schedule. You decide afterwards. The trial is a full lesson rather than a sales call, and the written recommendation that follows sets out the course, starting level, lesson length and weekly rhythm. Book a Free Trial Lesson
At Virtual Quran Center every class is one-to-one. There are no group sessions, and siblings each have their own lesson. The learner reads for the whole lesson, every mistake is heard and corrected, and the same teacher takes every lesson. That distinction matters because a thirty-minute group class of six gives each child about five minutes of reading, while a private lesson gives twenty-five. Learn About One-to-One Quran Classes
Yes. Children from about five learn well online with short, frequent lessons and a teacher experienced with their age group. Our kids' classes at Virtual Quran Center run 20 to 30 minutes, keep the same teacher every week, and send parents a note after each lesson. Parents can sit in during the first weeks, and safeguarding practices, including a no-recording-without-consent policy, are published in full on the safeguarding page. Explore Quran Classes for Kids
Yes. Adults at any level, from the alphabet to advanced recitation, take private lessons with Virtual Quran Center at an adult pace, with early-morning, late-evening and weekend slots for working people. Nobody else is in the lesson. Many adults come back to reading after twenty years away and find that most of it returns within weeks, with the teacher establishing in the trial what has stayed and what has gone. Start Quran Classes for Adults
Yes. Learners can request a female teacher for any course at Virtual Quran Center, including Qaida, reading, Tajweed and Hifz. Availability depends on the time of day you need, and we tell you honestly if no female teacher is free at your slot rather than substituting a male teacher. Female teachers cover Noorani Qaida, reading, Tajweed, memorisation and Quranic Arabic, so choosing a female teacher never limits which course a learner can take. Find a Female Quran Teacher
Three to five short lessons a week suit children and anyone memorising, because reading and memory are built by frequency. Two or three a week is a realistic rhythm for working adults. At Virtual Quran Center the teacher recommends a rhythm in the free trial, and you can change it later without changing teacher. The reasoning is simple: reading and memory are built by repetition, and the gap between lessons is where forgetting happens, so several short lessons beat one long one. Compare Lessons-per-Week Plans
A phone, tablet or computer with a camera and microphone, a stable internet connection and a quiet place to read aloud. Virtual Quran Center shares the text on the teacher's screen, so no books need to be bought, and the teacher confirms the video-call app before your first lesson. Many families like to keep a printed Qaida or Mushaf alongside, but it is optional, and the teacher can suggest a clear edition if you want one later. Book Your First Lesson
Yes. When you book with Virtual Quran Center you state your preference for a male or female teacher, a language spoken at home, and experience with your learner type. A coordinator proposes a teacher, you meet them in the free trial, and we propose another if the fit is wrong. As teacher profiles are published you can also request a named teacher, and we tell you honestly whether they are free at the times you need. Find Your Quran Teacher
Yes. Because each slot belongs to one learner, lessons can sit after school, before work at half past six, or at nine in the evening. Our teachers work across UK and US hours, and Virtual Quran Center shows every time in your own zone with rescheduling on 24 hours' notice. Clock changes in spring and autumn are handled for you, so a lesson booked at half past four stays at half past four in your local time all year. See How Scheduling Works
Yes. A complete beginner starts with the Arabic letters and the Noorani Qaida, then moves to reading short surahs. Virtual Quran Center teaches beginners of any age privately, so nobody is embarrassed and the pace is theirs. The first lessons teach the letters with their correct articulation points, which prevents the pronunciation habits that would otherwise need undoing in a Tajweed course later. Start as a Complete Beginner
Yes. Tajweed is taught at Virtual Quran Center as its own course for fluent readers, one rule at a time and applied in your own recitation, and it is corrected as it arises in every reading lesson. Online works well for Tajweed because the teacher hears every word. The course is for fluent readers; if reading is not yet secure, the teacher will recommend the reading course first rather than sell a Tajweed course you cannot yet use. Join Online Tajweed Classes
Yes. Memorisation works online because the teacher hears the new portion and the revision from memory every lesson and keeps the record. Virtual Quran Center offers a memorisation course for shorter goals and a full Hifz programme with a daily rhythm and revision system. Every memorisation lesson has the same three parts, new portion, recent revision and older revision, so what was learned in month one is still there in month twelve. Start Online Hifz Classes
