Factors families mention
- Religious preference. Many adult women prefer a female teacher, and many adult men a male teacher, for reasons of modesty and comfort. This is a legitimate reason and academies should accommodate it.
- Comfort of the child. Very young children often respond well to whichever teacher is warm and patient. Some parents prefer a female teacher for children under 8 regardless of the child's gender.
- Learner's stage. For teenagers, a same-gender teacher is a common preference.
- Availability. Female teachers are in higher demand for evening slots in the UK and USA. If your preferred slot is popular, flexibility on time may be needed.
What does not differ
Qualification, teaching quality, and the ability to correct Tajweed do not depend on gender. Choose the teacher who is qualified, consistent and available, within your preference.
How we handle it
You state your preference when booking a free trial. We match accordingly wherever availability allows, and we tell you if we cannot rather than assigning someone outside your preference. See Quran for Women and the teacher directory.
