The stages, and what affects each one
| Stage | What is learned | What speeds it up |
|---|---|---|
| Alphabet | 28 letters, sounds, shapes | Daily 5-minute practice |
| Joining | Letters in word positions | Reading many short words |
| Vowel marks | Harakat, sukoon, shaddah, tanween | Teacher correction, not self-study |
| Short surahs | Reading with support | Reading aloud daily |
| Fluency | Whole pages at a steady pace | Reading volume |
| Tajweed | Correct sound | Listening and repeating with a teacher |
The four factors that matter most
- Lesson frequency. Three lessons a week gives roughly twice the progress of one, because less is forgotten between lessons.
- Daily practice. Five minutes a day beats an hour on Sunday.
- Starting level. Someone who already recognises letters skips weeks.
- A consistent teacher. Changing teachers resets the relationship and the teacher's knowledge of your weak points.
What about age?
Young children take longer on the alphabet but memorise sounds easily. Adults understand the system faster and often reach reading sooner, but have less time. Neither is a barrier.
Why we do not quote a number
Any academy that promises "read Quran in 30 days" is describing the best case for one type of learner, or not being honest. What we can do is assess you in a free trial and give a personal estimate, then track it against your real progress.
